LARRY DEAN
Chief Executive Officer

Owner and President of Allied Powder Coating, Larry Dean, prides himself on being a native Houstonian. An entrepreneur early on, Larry began his first business, an apartment dweller relocation service, while attending Bellaire High School. He also worked summers doing repairs and service calls at a full service gas station.

Larry's high school athletic skills lead to a track and football scholarship at the University of Montana where he was selected as an All Conference wide receiver. He received his bachelor's degree in business with a minor in psychology. After college graduation, Larry played professional football in Canada for one season and then semi-pro football for the Houston Hunters.

At the end of his sports career, Larry began Dean-Chem Co., a plating and coating business in 1978 and two years later founded Allied Powder Coating. Allied's first facility encompassed 2000 sq ft and had 3 employees. With the company goal "Quality work at a fair price, delivered on time!" at the forefront, Allied has grown to a 77,000 sq ft facility with 60 employees. As one of the founding fathers of the powder coating business, Larry has participated in the development of specifications for many high profile projects including Reliant Stadium, the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, GA, and the Houston Metro Light Rail system.

STEVE BARILE
Chief Operating Officer
Joined the Company 10/2007
 
MBA (Production Systems), Columbia University
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Manhattan College
 
Steve joins the company with 30 years manufacturing experience.  He has expertise in Lean Manufacturing, SPC and Continuous Improvement Techniques.
His current focus has been to further improve the repeatability of Allied Powder Coating’ s manufacturing processes and to improve material flow throughout our company.

MIKE BLACKBURN
Vice President, Engineering
Joined the Company in 2002
 
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Kansas State
 
Mike has more than 25 years in line and staff manufacturing management positions.  For 14 years, he owned and operated a Design and Fabrication Company.  His company supplied custom designed equipment for manufacturing with emphasis on the coating processes.
Mike’s focus for Allied has been to help make the behavioral changes required to take advantage of the facility and the equipment he designed and built for Allied.  He has also designed and is about to bring to market an in-line hook cleaning machine.

DAVE SPANGLER
Plant Manager, Powder Coating, Houston
Joined the Company 4/2008
 
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, United States Military Academy at West Point.

Dave joins us as our new Plant Manager after having 10 years of manufacturing experience in management, engineering, and powder coating applications with Ford Motor Company and Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

BRIAN KELLY
PLANT MANAGER, Dean Chem
Joined the Company 3/2008
 
Brian will manage our April acquisition of Dean Chem, a metal plater.  Brian has over 20 years management experience in metal plating.  This experience includes chrome, phosphating and metal oxide.

John Casey
Vice President, Retail/Commercial Division;  Customer Service
Joined the company in1997
 
Associates Degree in Business , Glasgow University
 
John has 10 years experience as Allied’s Sales Manager.  He now takes on the role of VP Sales, Patio Furniture to drive the sales of Allied’s Patio Furniture Division by taking it into the Clean and Care Market Place and further strengthening Allied’s position in the San Antonio/Austin market.

SKYLER ZOCHERT
Vice President, Industrial Sales
Joined the Company 3/2008
 
Attended Louisiana State University and graduated from Louisiana Military Academy  and commissioned as a second lieutenant.
 
Skyler joins us to drive our Industrial Sales Division.  He has over 20 years of sales management experience. This experience includes powder coating sales management .

Joined the company in the year of 2007
 
Attended the University of Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, Texas
Graduated with Total Quality Management Degree
To further advance her education and skills Julisa is currently enrolled in Nace International to gain all three levels of certification in the powder coating industry.
 
Julisa joins the company with 8 years of experience in the manufacturing field / coating industry. She brings to Allied Powder Coating 12 certificates in Quality Control, supervision, and operating of machinery.
 
Julisa is committed to providing quality finishing products which meet or exceed our customer requirements her main focus is to control the quality process & to ensure the expectations of our customer needs.
